The Fall of Glittering vs Item drops

Six months ago, I looked at the power of glittering charms, and published some analysis over on Reddit. The then undervalued Glittering charms skyrocketed in popularity and within a few weeks had grown in value from about 250-300k up to over 1m.

It quickly became the staple of anyone looking to build a team, as having 2 Glittering on each pet, would create over 14m gems per day, which at that time, was enough to buy another huge pet.

When suggesting last week that Glittering charms should double and move with the times, I was met with this response blaming them for inflation and potentially disregarding any change.

So, I decided to look a little deeper, at whether Glittering charms are still a factor, or if their input on the economy is as old as my original analysis.

For this test, I did a pretty straightforward test over 16 hours of mixed usage.
8 hours was concentrating more on the clan battle, chasing those pesky chests with a few too many repetitions of that same 3-minute cycle and 8 hours was simply AFK in the last area while hatching eggs.

I do have the super-drops gamepass, and I did use treasure enchants to boost items a little (as anyone specifically item-farming would).
So here’s the total gains,
This does not include the Virus Grififn (150m+) that was hatched or the countless fruits, remaining key halves and less popular items, I stuck with items I knew would sell quickly at RAP.

Not a bad haul, but definitely far lower than if i’d intentionally wanted to get as many items as possible (sadly clan battles don’t afford us the luxury to actually play the game for 16 hours)

Naturally a few will be trying to work out the value, but but before we reveal it, let’s take a look at Glittering charms. My entire team has had 2 glittering charms on for months…
2 (glittering x 99 (pets) x 25 (diamonds) x 120 (times per hour) = 495,000 diamonds per hour..

This gives us a maximum of 7,920,000 – 8 million gems, over the course of our 16 hour test…

So how did the items compare…

Basic, real-life useage and farming the last area generated 59m in value.
Compared to less than 8m produced by Glittering charms.

Easy to sell Item drops59.1m
Glittering Charm profits7.9m

Without a doubt, Glittering used to be a big contributor to inflation, but for a while now Huge prices have avoided any major inflation, mostly due to more being made available.
So even though we can make enough to buy a huge within 24 hours from a good farming team, better balancing on the rate huges are introduced to the game has helped stabilise the economy.

However it seems Glittering charms have been left out in the cold, and it would now take over a week for Glittering charms to produce the same amount of gems that you could earn from 1 day of farming the last area (and we won’t even mention the drops gained from that Police chest).

Hopefully the dev’s do revisit my initial suggestion of making Glittering drop 50 gems rather than 25, which I feel the above data shows would simply make them viable again, without touching on the profit you can make by abandoning your pets in the last area.
